Tailor made and fiercely independent
Placing an order
Pricing on skis run from $1099 for a standard shape and domestic veneer to $1499 for a fully custom shape. Exotic veneers are an additional $45-110. If you are interested in having a ski made, the process starts with a $400 deposit. This secures your position in the production schedule. From there we discuss what kind of skier you are, where you intend to use the ski, the available shapes and custom options, layups, and veneer options. Once we have all of the options finalized, I will begin production and get to work. All deposits are non-refundable.
Options and Pricing
All shapes start at $1099. This includes the standard fiberglass composites, an Ash and Poplar core with a Hard Maple sidewall, VDS rubber dampening layer, a domestic veneer, 4001 series sintered P-Tex base material, and Entropy SuperSAP bio-based epoxy.
Veneer Options
This is a sample list of veneer options that have been used in the past and the cost associated. Supplies vary and wood is a natural resource; every tree is different. We do our best to highlight the most engaging material we can find and orient it in a way you will like. If you have a specific species or grain pattern that you would like to work with, we will do our best to accommodate.
Standard Domestic: Flat cut Ash, Cherry, Maple, Oak, or Walnut. Included.
Premium Domestic: Figured or Quartered Ash, Cherry, Maple, Walnut. Fumed Aspen. +$45
Standard Exotic: Rustic French Walnut, English Brown Oak, Tineo, Black Limba, Figured Red Gum. +$75
Premium Exotic: Chen-Chen, Pau Ferro, Makore, Paldao. +$110
Composite Layup Options
Outside of the standard layup, there are a wide range of options available to suit a variety of skiing styles and purposes.
Tip-to-Tail carbon fiber stringers: 4 oz unidirectional carbon fiber integrated into the layup directly adjacent to the wood core. This adds stiffness and a considerable amount of energy to the ski. +$50
Resort fiberglass: An additional layer (or two, depending on the individual) of 6 oz unidirectional fiberglass will increase stiffness, weight, and dampening without giving the higher frequency that carbon yields. This is a great option for skiing resorts where additional weight can be a benefit while still resulting in a playful ski. +$50
Touring Layup: Additional machining of the wood core reduces weight along with two layers of carbon fiber to regain the stiffness lost from the reduction of wooden core material. The exact amount of weight saved varies based on the shape and size, but ranges from 100-200 grams per ski. +$100
Carbon fiber torsion box: Carbon fiber inlays in the tip and tail of the ski that prevents the tips and tails from twisting or chattering while on edge. These thin carbon fiber strips are placed at 45* angles in the tip and tail while a wider carbon fiber stringer is placed at 0* between the tip and tail inlays. +$120
Flex Profiles
Each shape is designed in tandem with a specific flex profile rated on a 1-5 relative scale, 1 being the softest, 5 being the stiffest. The standard for each model is 3. If you would like any specific flex profile changes, write any changes in the checkout form.
Shape Changes
Shape changes are available inside of the paradigm of existing shapes, as well as full custom shapes.
Modifications to the top view of a ski are available for $100. Popular changes include adding or subtracting width or modifying the turning radius of a ski. Working inside of the rocker/camber profile of an existing shape or size helps to keep the cost down while getting you exactly the product you’d like.
Building a full custom ski involves manufacturing a full set of molds. This increases the cost of the ski by $400. Reach out if you have anything specific you would like built. Full custom shapes start at $1499.
Skis and snowboards will be delivered waxed, tuned, and ready for mounting. Current delivery dates are November 2023.
Bindings: I sell and will mount 22 Designs products. I have relationships with a few shops in Western New York that can satisfy all of your alpine binding and boot needs.
